The Race Management
System (RMS)
The RMS consists of electronic
hardware and MS-Windows based software. Very flexible &
compatible with software from numerous vendors, it
offers an array of choices to fit a various needs.
A basic hardware setup includes a
computer and the following components: Interface Data
Unit (IDU), Decoder, Transmitters (Rechargeable), &
Transmitters (Hardwire)

The transmitter (1) affixed by one of two types holders
emits a unique identification signal which is picked up
by the Loop Antenna (2). The signal then passes along
the antenna, through a Balun connector (3), a device
that connects the Loop Antenna to the Coax Cable (4).
The signal is carried by the Coax Cable to the Decoder
(5) which converts the raw identification signal into a
digital packet that is ready for processing. The RaceBus
(6) data cable carries the packet to the IDU (7) which
accumulates and coordinates digital packets from one or
more Decoders and then transfers the information to the
computer (8) for timing and scoring use. The computer
can simultaneously post race results to the scoreboard
and remote monitors with real-time information. With the
ability to broadcast information to computer terminals
located in the pits, stands and announcer’s booth, the
RMS raises the level of entertainment and excitement for
both spectators and race participants alike. |
